More Odds & Ends Trivia (part III)

This should have gone under Special Event stations, however at that time I could not find the card. The card has been
located and is shown below. What a Special Event station it is that involves two hams from the Bridal Suite on their honeymoon!! I don't think there were over 5 contacts (radio) made or confirmed...rare QSL huh?
KE4VPD & KF4TJR

You can tell it's been a while ,the date & postmark 1997!

Rex K4JBJ from Griffin, GA came and visited us quite a bit. He has the distinction of staying in the Windsor once BEFORE it was restored...and yes, FLOYD the bellhop(the bar was named after) took him up on the elevator! This is in 1966 that he sent regrets that he could not come to visit nor attend our wedding due to some lame excuse as being in the Army. We understood and here's Rex back then..."Attention"....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We also took Rex and his date Mary( who's brother is KA4AXI)
to our local homecoming at my previous church (Bethel Baptist)
Shown here in about 1962 with the K4JBJ mobile ,ck out that hf
mobile antenna on the Pontiac. Rex tells me he remembers the '58
Pontiac, but not the girl....hmmmmm..

Mary, Rex, Nancy, & me. Kwool ties eh?? & Rex's '58 K4JBJ/M

This is probably the "highest power" mobile you'll ever see. Here are two (2) Collins 30S-1's in my Dodge Caravan. Each one capable of running over 2,000 watts    Why? It just seemed like a good shot.....no, no, we were transporting them to another location.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't know who this dark hair'd, sideburn'd geekfellow is, but looks
like some Collins & Hallicrafter hf gear in this 1967 picture of his station.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ARRL in 1978 put out a poster that I still find amusing and puzzling. It's on recruiting new hams. Looks like to me that the characters are in some kind of "spy" outfits or maybe I just missed the point altogether since it was too deep for my shallow mind. Let me know what you think. jpoole@americus.net

Strange eh?......We used them...and I have one leftover. ;)

That's it for time travel folks........
More later..maybe. Sign the guest book. Thanks.
