Connect with the National Scout Jamboree via Amateur
Radio
The National Scout Jamboree takes place July 26-August
4 (right now) at Fort AP Hill, Caroline County, Virginia.
A myriad of exhibits and activities await the close to 40,000
Scouts, leaders and staff. Coming from all 50 states, territories
and foreign countries, they will have the opportunity to live,
work and play together in an atmosphere of Scouting fellowship.
And just like the National Scout Jamborees in 1973, 1981, 1985,
1989, 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005, the 2010 event will feature Amateur
Radio.
A team of 17 Scouters and two Scouts will activate K2BSA
as a demonstration station at the Jamboree.

Even though we don't have the .27 repeater up right now, there's
still activity on 146.52 at times. The above operater was even
heard on 75 meters; wonder of wonders!

D-STAR now in SW Georgia
Last Saturday, KJ4PYB went on the air in Thomasville, Georgia.
This repeater stack was originally slated for Pelham, Georgia,
but it was discovered that the antennas on the Pelham GPB tower
were improperly mounted. Thanks to the efforts of Mike Brown,
KE4FGF and Georgia ARES Section Emergency Coordinator, and John
Swicord, KE4RWR and SW Georgia District Emergency Coordinator,
a new home for the repeater was located in Thomasville with Internet
access fr the gateway. Yesterday, Robin Cutshaw (AA4RC) and I
made the trek down to Thomasville with a U-Haul full of equipment.
We were joined by Gary, Anna, Justin and Patrick Pike and team
placed the new repeater in operation. While the site is not as
high as we would like, it does provide good coverage.
The frequencies are:
KJ4PYB C 145.0800 +1.4 MHz
KJ4PYB B 440.6500 +5.0 MHz
KJ4PYB A 1248.7500 (RPS)
The Georgia network of D-STAR repeaters continues to grow with
a lot of help across the state.
